Welcome
to StevenMeyerGallery.com, home of original oil paintings by Steven W.
Meyer.
I am learning to paint. I split my time between painting outside... Plein
Air, and painting in my studio. It feels great to leave the world
of commercial art behind (my day job) and enter the more immediate world
of painting from life. Most of my paintings are created here in
beautiful Vermont. Please browse my site, I hope you enjoy viewing my
paintings as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Artist Statement:
I have always been a builder. Whether
in the sandbox or surrounded by hundreds of Lego pieces scattered
on the floor, my next creation has always been a driving force
in my art and my work.
I see my paintings as building projects. A well built and unique piece
is the goal. I get there through the creative, unconscious process
that allows me to put colors and values right where they need to be in the
shape they need to be in. I know when they are placed out of balance,
so I fix them. When I get it right, I say "ahhh". Hopefully,
my paintings are the result of many "ahhhs"".
